Dear Kieran,
The write up looks great, I guess Baerbrook and it's ghosts are famous! I hope you all had a nice holiday.
The day after your visit we had a plumber and he brought an older man along as his helper. We were stunned that the helper said he knew the house because he had grownup just up the street. He remembers many of the people that lived at our house and the house next door. Apparently, the homes were owned by a rather large family with the names of Kalahan and Brinker. They owned some lands across 447 as well as land on either side.
This man said that our home was never a vacation home but always a
primary residence. The original people, the Kalahan's, may be related
to John Joseph Kalahan from Yeadon, PA. This man played baseball with
the minor leagues and was called up to play with the Athletics (later
called the Phillies) around 1913. He played only the one game. He
remembers Mr Kalahan in the 30's as driving a shiny large cadillac,
with a jeff cap and smoking a cigar. His description reminded meof
Broderick Crawford. He did not live full time in the Poconos, but
lived next door and spent most of the time between our home and his
with all the family.
The other family was the Brinker family who were related to the
Kalahan's. The old man remembers Art Brinker who lived next door.
His son Milton Brinker lived in our house. Eventually, Art became too
old and came to live with Milton. He died in our house. The old man
remembered Art as a kind and gentle man who loved this area and loved
our home. When I asked if Art played the violin, he said he wouldn't
be surprised since there was no reception for radio, so the
Kalahan/Brinker clan amused themselves by beingvery musical. They all
played an instrument.
Since the investigation, we have had only one experience. My friends
and I were all in the bathroom and without anyone near it, a half a
roll of toilet paper unraveled itselfas we all watched. That was
interesting!! Another rather strange turn was when we took our family
pictures in front of the Christmas tree this year in XXXXXXX, orbs
appeared. This is the first time we ever had orbs in our pictures in
XXXXXXX. I guess our friends from Canadensis came home for the
holidays!
Thanks again for your investigation. I wish I knew what happened with
the house next door and whether or not it sold and to whom. If you
find anything else out, please let us know.
Thanks,
Christine Torban
