We were summoned to investigate a 61 year old house in Stroud Township of the Poconos on May 18, 2005, by the owner of that house. Unbeknownst to us, however, both witnesses, the husband and the wife, were not going to be present during the pre-investigation interview; therefore, we had only the wife's testimony, but were promised that, upon the couple's return from a week-long trip out of state, we would have the opportunity to hear the husband's account of what had occurred during what the couple suspected was a supernatural event.
According to the woman, one night at 11:00, in July 2004, while her husband was in their jacuzzi room, a substance that appeared to be blood was "spraying up from the floor," all around her husband as he stood there. The woman first observed through the sliding glass door to the room "red spots" which appeared on the floor and then started spraying up from the floor. She said that the blood sprayed all around her husband, but not on him. She stated this continued for approximately 45 minutes. Because, according to the woman, they did not know what to make of it, and because they were alarmed, they did not know what to do or whom to call. The woman started to clean but, because there was so much of a mess, and she was not able to determine whether the "blood" was still spraying, she gave up, and the couple went to bed.
On the following day, the couple photographed what appeared to be puddles of blood all over the floor of the jacuzzi room. Additionally, when a large container was moved, a bloody print of what they thought looked like a moccasined foot, was revealed. Sides of the jacuzzi, shelves, and containers had been splattered with the red liquid, as well. A peculiar criss-cross pattern allegedly caused by the spraying of the liquid appeared on the sides of the jacuzzi and the shelving.
The wife was unable to bring herself to clean the room until three days after the occurrence while the husband, who works and lives in N.Y. Monday - Friday, was out of state. She had the presence of mind to snip off bloody ends of the mop and preserve them in a plastic bag.
Still not knowing whom to call four or five days after the incident, the wife contacted the man who had installed the jacuzzi. He lifted boards around the jacuzzi motor and scrutinized the room, but there was no animal trapped, as the wife claims they had suspected, and the plumbing appeared to be in good working condition.
In August 2004, the husband was involved in an automobile accident. While the police were at the house, the wife confided in an officer, "off the record," about what had occurred in the jacuzzi room, in order to see what he thought of the ordeal. At that point, the room was looked at, and the mop clippings were taken. A detective was contacted by the officer, and he took some "blood" samples as well. The substance was later confirmed to be blood, and family members all had to give blood samples.
Since that time, according to the woman, the FBI became involved in order to perform DNA testing on the samples and, as of the time we spoke to the woman, she had not yet heard from the police with a final determination.
The woman showed us photos of the room, and the room itself. During the interview all necessary questions to determine if there were any natural cause for the experience were asked. Furthermore, Kieran took photos of the outside of the house and its grounds to have a record of the physical characteristics of the property in order to determine if a natural source could have been responsible for the occurrence. The woman and her daughter and granddaughter, who were also present during our interview, all claim that her cats will sometimes "go crazy" upstairs, tearing around the house, and it sounds as if there's a "crowd upstairs." Furthermore, other family members have stated that they hear drums (Native American type of beat) originating from both the jacuzzi room and the old part of the house, and the woman claims to have seen from the corner of her eye, a cloaked figure walking by. They also claim to feel cold drafts coming from the second floor of the house, and that the television would turn on and off by itself.
After the two hour interview, all group members sat in an eatery, sipping coffee, and discussing our findings. We then decided we could go no further until hearing the husband's version of what had occurred on the night in question.
Kieran called the woman who had promised to call us upon her return home with her husband from a week-long trip in order to schedule an interview with her husband. Kieran also left a message for a contact within the police department to get back to him to discuss the investigation.
As of the writing of this report, the woman has not contacted the group to schedule an interview of her husband. However, Kieran spoke to his contact within the police department who told him that the DNA sample had come back, and it was found to be the husband's blood. Furthermore, he stated that the husband had suffered a ruptured varicose vein which was the cause of the alleged paranormal phenomenon.
Of course, these findings raise even more questions, such as: How could anyone lose so much blood and not know it? How was it determined that the husband had suffered a ruptured vein? Had he had a check-up subsequent to the incident that no one knew about? How could he have bled so much but not have had any blood on him? Finally (well, maybe not finally), why was the blood only in the jacuzzi room if it had come from him? Didn't he bleed in the bedroom, as well?
We doubt that we are going to hear from the couple again, as we are sure they have been given a report of the findings.
PIP Determination:
Case Closed.
No Paranormal Activity.
