Swiftwater Inn Investigation
June 25, 2005, 6:00 P.M. - 9:00 P.M.
Swiftwater Inn
PIP was fortunate enough to be welcomed into the Swiftwater Inn, July 27, 2005, for a paranormal investigation by its gracious owners, Susan and John Cooper. Located on Route 611 in the town of Swiftwater in the Pennsylvania Pocono Mountains, the Swiftwater Inn has been a beacon, since 1778, to those seeking comfortable lodging and fine food and drink in pastoral surroundings. Adding to the charm of the Inn is its reputation for being haunted, as some of its guests apparently enjoy the Inn so much, that not even death can keep them from luxuriating in the amenities offered by the establishment.
Diane, Kieran, and Curtis were told to make themselves at home during the investigation, and were given free reign to roam the two restaurants, kitchen, pantry, office/parlor area, the grounds, and two rooms which now serve as storage areas.
When one enters the spacious Inn, there is an immediate feeling of having crossed a time zone into the past. Furnishings, as well as much of the building, are much as they were when the Inn was newly erected. Because of this, our group's members found psychically "tuning into" the establishment effortless.
Diane was drawn to the bar area of the Inn's beautiful restaurant, sensing an otherworldly presence in that corner of the room. Kieran and Curtis, as well, were attracted to that area, and Kieran set up his video camera on the opposite side of the spacious room, while using his EMF meter to detect any unusual activity, and his digital camera to photograph those areas in which changes were noted. Curtis, armed with a digital camera and his finely-tuned sixth sense, continued into the kitchen and parlor, where he felt an overwhelming presence. Diane held a compass in one hand, and her tape recorder in the other, hoping to catch a voice on tape when the compass indicated there was a change in the environment.
Curtis and Kieran both captured orbs while photographing the restaurant, office, and back storage room. Because of "white noise" caused by the large kitchen appliances, and the usual traffic sounds present on the busy Route 611, Diane found identifying some of the unusual sounds in-between as being voices difficult. However, when she sat in the back room and asked for anyone who might be present to offer some sort of sign, a long moan, in a feminine voice, can be heard in response.
Curtis had an exciting experience shortly before the end of the investigation as he was standing in the pantry. He felt what he describes as two hands lightly grip his upper arms from the back, and slowly descend to his elbows. He called for Kieran to come with his camera, but the otherwise-occupied Kieran was too late to capture an image of the owner of those hands.
After the investigation, the trio visited the Inn's tavern for something cold to drink. That is where Kieran felt a strong presence and walked to the back of the room to snap a couple of photos. His instincts were on target, as he captured an orb on film.
The group has determined that there is definite paranormal activity at the Swiftwater Inn, and its members wish to thank the Coopers and their employees for graciously affording them the privilege of inspecting the premises. Members Present: Diane Pryor, Kieran Pryor and Curtis Morgan.
